Heard of courgette (or zucchini) flowers? Edible flowers? Sure. But, cucumber flowers? I was interested to learn that they’re a thing too and edible.

‘I’ve got a cup of tea, tell me all about it…’
The humble cucumber is a stable favourite of mine, refreshing, great in the quintessential English crustless sandwich, long slivers in a cooling pitcher of water, couple of slices to beautify your eyes, a great combination with cheese, tuna and humous. I was delighted on a trip to Kew to be offered a cucumber flower in my gin cocktail. I had to check I hadn’t misheard, but here is the evidence.
Small, delicate, colourful and surprisingly close in taste to its larger counterpart. Sadly they aren’t widely available, but you can purchase some online.
