The humble cucumber is a stable favourite of mine, refreshing, great in the quintessential English crustless sandwich, long slivers in a cooling pitcher of water, couple of slices to beautify your eyes, a great combination with cheese, tuna and humous. I was delighted on a trip to Kew to be offered a cucumber flower in my gin cocktail. I had to check I hadn’t misheard, but here is the evidence.
